Talk: Wireless Meshing

This talk will give a brief introduction into the ideas of wireless mesh
networking, explaining how hundreds of routers can organize themselves in a
city wide network. We will present the technologies deployed in Berlin, its
limitations and outline the problems we faced which ultimately led to the
decission to develop our own protocol. We will show why B.A.T.M.A.N . is far
more resource effective than its predecessors, how the builtin gateway
tunneling helps stablilising your internet connection, prevents IP spoofing
and can even negotiate automatic encryption. The next stage " B.A.T.M.A.N.
advanced" (the layer 2 implemention of the B.A.T.M.A.N. routing algorithm)
goes even further and introduces the next generation of path discovery by
hooking deep into the wlan hardware.
